PROGRAMME

The Science of Headaches
Gisela Terwindt
Gisela's research focuses on the neurobiological and molecular mechanisms that trigger migraine attacks, aiming to identify targeted treatments for prevention and disease progression. A key emphasis of her work is the role of female-specific factors, particularly hormonal influences on migraine and the heightened cardiovascular risks that migraine presents for women. Despite growing evidence, many physicians remain unaware that migraine treatment in women should differ from that in men. Her group is actively working to bridge this gap by investigating the impact of hormonal fluctuations on migraine and the unique stroke risk associated with migraine in women.

Constellate Proteomic
Dennis de Beeld
As co-founder and business developer of TU Delft spin-out Constellate Proteomics, Dennis aims to revolutionize antibody-based drug development. The Constellate Proteomics team developed the patented FRET X technology, which enables simpler, faster and more cost-effective single-molecule glycosylation analysis. Their game-changing technology is offered as a service and will be implemented in lab devices soon!

Nucleate
Cesare Marino
Nucleate is a global, student-led nonprofit that supports early-stage biotech innovation by connecting scientific founders with experts in business, clinical, and legal fields. Nucleate Netherlands, the local chapter, focuses on bridging scientific research, entrepreneurship, and international collaboration. Through equity-free, student-run programs like the Global Virtual Activator (GVA), Nucleate NL empowers academic founders with training, mentorship, and exposure to the biotech ecosystem. With a strong emphasis on accessibility, sustainability, and diversity, the initiative aims to build vibrant communities and strengthen networks across regions and disciplines. Upcoming efforts, including a showcase in Leiden in June 2025, highlight its commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration within Dutch and global biotech.
